Middlesbrough welcome Stoke City to the Riverside Stadium this weekend as they look to pick up just a third win of the season.
Michael Carrick’s side will be hoping to recover from last weekend’s derby day defeat to Sunderland against a Stoke side who recently appointed Narcis Pelach as their new manager.
The Staffordshire club lost their first game under his management as they were beaten 3-1 by Hull City.
Both sides have met each other once already this season, when Stoke thumped the Teessiders 5-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Middlesbrough vs Stoke City predictions
Both teams have had poor starts to the season however if Boro can exploit Stoke’s biggest weakness, as outlined by Perlach, then they stand a good chance of picking up a third league win of the season.
Many are predicting the game to be a scrappy affair, including EFL pundit Sam Parkin, who believes the game will be a low-scoring contest.
Speaking on the Championship Check-in podcast, he said: “Really difficult because I think in the first 45 minutes [vs Hull City] there was obviously real signs that Stoke could be onto something good.
“As it is, really tough, I’m going to go for Middlesbrough to grind out, like they did on the opening day, 1-0 Middlesbrough.”
