Former Middlesbrough ace to play in exhibition match alongside Roberto Carlos, Michael Owen and more

A former Middlesbrough star will share a pitch with some of football’s most iconic names at the end of November.

The King’s Cup Dubai is set to take place on Saturday, November 30th, and will feature some of the biggest names from the footballing world over the last several decades.

The match will kick off at 3.30pm GMT for any fans looking to see the likes of Roberto Carlos and Michael Owen in action.

The King’s XI is set to be captained by Edgard Davids and the other by Chelsea legend, John Terry.

On Davids’ team, there are icons of the game including left-back Carlos, Franck Ribery, Jay Jay Okocha, Owen and David Villa.

Terry’s side, meanwhile, includes the likes of Paul Scholes, Paul Pogba, David Silva and Clarence Seedorf.

Former Middlesbrough and Leicester City centre-back Robert Huth is set to play for David’s team on the day, meaning he could be lining up in defence alongside Carlos.

What is former Middlesbrough player Robert Huth up to these days?

Huth joined Middlesbrough from Chelsea in August 2006 for fee of around £7.5m.

The German spent three years at the Riverside Stadium, playing 63 games in all competitions and scoring two goals.

He then had spells with Stoke City and Leicester City, being a key part of the latter’s historic Premier League title-winning campaign.

Huth eventually retired from playing in 2018 and has since acted as a pundit for several outlets including Sky Sports.

How to watch the King’s Cup Dubai

The game takes place at 3:30pm on November 30th and will be available to livestream on the Sportainment app.

It takes place at the Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai and has a special ruling, allowing each team’s ‘King’s Guard’ player to be a 12th man on the field of play, but only for 15 minutes each half.
