A former Middlesbrough player from their last promotion-winning season has just reached a very impressive milestone in his long career.
Middlesbrough are once again battling it out in the Championship during the 2024/25 season.
Michael Carrick is the man currently being trusted by Steve Gibson to try and get the Teessiders out of the second division.
The Manchester United legend came close in 2022/23 when he took Boro to the play-off finals.
But he has fallen short so far and after the first six Championship fixtures of the campaign, the North East outfit’s chances of returning to the top-flight are already looking slim.
Middlesbrough lost 1-0 to Sunderland last time out and have dropped down to 12th in the table.
It is still very early days of course and Boro fans will take solace from the fact that last time they won promotion to the Premier League, they also had a fairly slow start similar to what they are experiencing in the present day.

Former Middlesbrough star reaches impressive career milestone
After years of floundering in the second tier, Aitor Karanka was able to guide Middlesbrough back to the top flight in the 2015/16 season.
The Spaniard tasted play-off defeat the season prior but secured Boro a second-place finish in the Championship that term.
Several iconic Middlesbrough stars put their names into the history books in 2015/16, including the likes of current coach Grant Leadbitter, Adam Clayton, Ben Gibson and Albert Adomah.
Adomah scored eight and assisted eight for the Teessiders that season and now, it has been revealed that the winger has just achieved an incredible career milestone.
After starting for current team Walsall versus Leicester City in the League Cup this week, Adomah has now notched a staggering 700 career appearances, the majority of which came at Middlesbrough.

What did Albert Adomah do after leaving Middlesbrough
Despite being a fan-favourite at the Riverside Stadium during their promotion-winning season, Adomah quickly fell out of favour.
The now 36-year-old was sold to Aston Villa, who were playing in the Championship at the time, during the 2016 summer transfer window.
Adomah played 125 times for Villa before a loan spell with Nottingham Forest, which was then followed by a free transfer to Queens Park Rangers.
The winger was a key player at QPR for several years before he was released on a free this past summer.
He then signed for Walsall and despite his age, he is once again an important figure for the League Two outfit having scored one and assisted one in six league appearances so far this term.
Adomah is only on a one-year contract, however, and will likely bring his iconic playing career to an end when his deal expires in 2025.
