Get to know George Edmundson, the new Middlesbrough defender nicknamed ‘The Fridge’

Middlesbrough signed George Edmundson from Ipswich Town on summer deadline day 2024, here is everything you need to know about the Boro man.

Middlesbrough were one of the busiest Championship clubs during the summer transfer window as they brought in a total of eight new signings, in an attempt to bolster Michael Carrick’s first-team squad.

Stars such as Tommy Conway and Micah Hamilton were brought in to boost Boro’s attacking options, meanwhile, Carlos Borges and Aidan Morris were signed to give the Teessiders some more defensive steel.

One move that went under the radar though was the loan signing of George Edmundson from Premier League outfit Ipswich Town.

Edmundson, who has featured for the likes of Rangers and Derby County, arrives at the Riverside Stadium to provide Middlesbrough boss Carrick, with some much-needed cover in the defensive third.
