Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn could spend some time on the sidelines after suffering an injury at the weekend.

After scoring on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday Coburn was in the starting XI for Millwall’s 1-0 defeat at home to Luton Town.

Unfortunately for Coburn though it didn’t go quite to plan and the on-loan Boro star limped off just after the half-hour mark with an injury.

Millwall boss provides update on Josh Coburn injury

As well as losing Coburn, Millwall manager Neil Harris also lost Jake Cooper in the first half and he admitted that both enforced changes were a huge blow and that the pair were being assessed ahead of their short trip to face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

He told South London Press: “To lose your big man after 20 minutes is tough. It’s a real frustration for us that and we hope we see him back soon. Him and Jake look like calf [injuries]. Until we let them settle down over the next 24-48 hours we don’t know. But [they’re] two very key players for us.”

While it was a weekend to forget for Coburn there were still plenty of Boro loanees in action elsewhere.

Sammy Silvera was introduced as a second-half substitute in Portsmouth’s 3-0 defeat at home to Championship league leaders West Brom, which included a brace from ex-Middlesbrough midfielder Alex Mowatt.

Zach Hemming was in between the sticks for Leyton Orient as they earned their first three points of the season in League One thanks to a 1-0 win away at Reading.

Promising young striker Sonny Finch appeared off the bench for the final 20 minutes of their 3-0 loss away to fierce rivals AFC Wimbledon in League Two.
