Three of Middlesbrough’s players were rewarded with a place in the Championship’s team of the week after their win against Cardiff City.
Following a poor start to the season, Michael Carrick’s side made the trip to Wales to face Cardiff.
The Teesiders had picked up one point from their opening two games but were able to register their first three points of the season after a 2-0 victory.
Matt Clarke opened the scoring for Middlesbrough before an own goal wrapped up the points.
It was easily Boro’s best performance of the season and it caught the eye of others in the second tier too.

Two of Middlesbrough’s back four, as well as one of their forward-thinking options, were selected for the WhoScored.com team of the week.
Goalscorer Clarke was one of those and was given a rating of 9.2. He was joined in the side by right-back Anfernee Dijksteel received a 7.9.
Further up the pitch was Fin Azaz, who lined up on the left-hand side of the attack in the graphic, earning himself an 8.6 rating.
Clarke and Azaz were the two highest-rated players in the best XI for matchday three.
