Middlesbrough signed Lukas Engel from Danish outfit Silkborg for £2m in the summer of 2023.
Putting pen to paper on a four-year deal, Engel was originally signed to fill the void left by Ryan Giles, who joined Luton Town following the end of his Boro loan.

Following a difficult start to his Middlesbrough spell, Engel started to pick up form around Christmas soon becoming one of the Boro’s brightest performers.
