Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has outlined the club’s stance on selling key players in the 2024 summer transfer window.

Middlesbrough have made a number of signings in the 2024 summer transfer window so far.

Luke Ayling, Delano Burgzorg, and Aidan Morris have all made permanent moves to the Riverside Stadium.

Michael Carrick and Kieran Scott have also been working together to move on some of the unwanted talent at the club.

Paddy McNair, Jamie Jones, and Liam Roberts have all left the club after their contracts expired over the summer.

Elsewhere, Hayden Coulson has made a permanent move to Blackpool and Sammy Silvera has joined Portsmouth on loan for the 2024/25 Championship season.

So far though, the Teessiders have done a good job of maintaining their top stars.

Michael Carrick reveals Middlesbrough stance on selling key players

Boro News understands that Emmanuel Latte Lath has received interest from a number of clubs since the end of 2023/24.

However, Middlesbrough would need a ‘massive’ transfer fee to sell Latte Lath, with a fee of £20m-£25m touted.

Now, recent comments from Carrick have confirmed that Boro are not looking to part ways with any of their top stars in the current window.

When asked about keeping key players at the club, Carrick stated it was good to hear there are no plans to sell his top assets, as per Teesside Live.

He said: “Of course, we’re building towards something and you can see the boys enjoy it here.

“They’re at different stages of their careers and we want to help them achieve success. It’s good to hear [there are no plans to sell].”

Middlesbrough transfer stance could win them promotion

Middlesbrough failed to make the Championship top six in 2023/24, missing out by four points.

Part of the reason for this was they lost key players like Chuba Akpom, Ryan Giles, and Cameron Archer last summer.

The players brought in as replacements for the aforementioned trio took some time to get up to speed and Boro’s early-season form reflected this.

However, with key assets like Latte Lath and Rav van den Berg expected to stay at Middlesbrough this summer, a promotion push should be more likely in 2024/25.

Middlesbrough lost just one of their last 12 2023/24 Championship games – form more than good enough to earn them a return to the Premier League if they can keep it up across a full campaign.
