Middlesbrough completed an unexpected transfer for Ben Doak on Deadline Day last week.
Boro headed into August 30th aiming to add a centre-back to their first-team squad following a plethora of injury issues over the last several months.
Michael Carrick eventually got his man at 11pm on Friday when Middlesbrough confirmed the signing of George Edmundson on loan from Ipswich Town until January.
However, there was a second and unexpected transfer that also took place at the Riverside Stadium on Deadline Day.
After fending off competition from Championship rivals Hull City, the Teessdiers signed Ben Doak on loan from Liverpool for the remainder of the campaign.
Since his arrival in the North East, there has been plenty said about the 18-year-old winger.
Jurgen Klopp comments on Doak should excite Middlesbrough fans, with the German having previously labelled him a ‘special boy’.
Doak has received praise from Craig Hignett as well and now, the man himself has finally spoken out after joining Boro.

What Ben Doak will bring to Middlesbrough
Doak is yet to feature for the Reds, having signed too late to make the trip to Cardiff on August 31st.
Now, the teenager has linked up with fellow Boro star Tommy Conway for Scotland’s international break.
Before he left though, the Liverpool loanee sat down with MFC.co.uk to conduct his first Middlesbrough interview.
In said interview, Doak revealed four key things he will bring to the club in the 2024/25 season.
He said: “Very direct, getting at people, trying to create chances and hard work.
“Just get on the pitch and run. I’m grateful to be here and just can’t wait to get out there.”

Middlesbrough fans are going to love Ben Doak
One problem Middlesbrough have faced this season is an inability to score goals.
Five goals in their opening four Championship matches is not a terrible return but it should be much higher given the amount of times Carrick’s men have dominated games this term.
The Derby County tie was the perfect example of this, with Middlesbrough having 70 percent possession yet failing to score.
However, Doak’s comments suggest he will be exactly the type of player Boro need to break teams like that down and create better chances.
Middlesbrough currently lack that one attacker who will just run right at the opposition defence with no fear and Doak could be that man.
Isaiah Jones has that skillset in his locker but the winger has been pretty inconsistent so far this campaign.
In turn, if Doak plays the way he said he is going to, Middlesbrough fans will no doubt love him.
