Middlesbrough were completely on top throughout the entire second half but failed to find an equaliser.
After an intense clash, here’s how we rated Carrick’s Middlesbrough players today…

Middlesbrough player ratings vs Derby County
Seny Dieng 6/10
Not a lot he could have done about the opening goal, being left to try and clean up Jones’ error. Had little else to do.
Luke Ayling 5/10
Lacked the usual defensive solidity we have seen from the right-back over the last six months, struggling to deal with the threat of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
Rav van den Berg 7/10
Van den Berg was solid throughout and found himself on the end of many Derby crosses to clear Boro’s lines, ensuring Dieng had little to do.
Matt Clarke 7/10
Death, taxes and Matt Clarke being a rock at the back. He won every ball played into the Boro box today and largely kept Jackson quiet barring his goal, which was not Clarke’s fault.
Lukas Engel 6/10
A much better showing from Engel this weekend after lacking an attacking threat in previous games. He bombed forward throughout the match, producing a number of crosses for Middlesbrough’s attackers.

Aidan Morris 7/10
Pressed Derby well, allowing Boro to dominate the midfield battle and keep the game in the opposition half.
Hayden Hackney 7/10
Like Morris, he was excellent in the defensive third and also created a number of key chances, including a lovely ball for a Burgzorg goal, which was ruled out for offside.
Isaiah Jones 3/10
Showed a lack of concentration early on, gifting Derby the opener with a poor backpass.

Finn Azaz 8/10
Had a bright showing despite wasting a few opportunities. He created several chances across the 90 minutes and tested Derby’s keeper a few times.
Delano Burgzorg 8/10
Another lively showing from the Delano Burgzorg who offered a lot more in terms of creativity and attacking threat than Riley McGree did last weekend. Burgzorg will be a serious asset for Boro this season. Unluckly not to get another goal, seeing his header ruled out for offside.
Emmanuel Latte Lath 6/10
Caused Derby’s defence a lot of issues with his runs in behind and was unlucky not to get a goal on the day.
