The future of Emmanuel Latte Lath has been called into question ahead of Middlesbrough vs Cardiff City.

Boro return to Championship action on Saturday afternoon, travelling to Wales for a 12:30pm kick-off.

Middlesbrough face Cardiff City as they look to pick up their first league win since the opening day when they beat Swansea City 1-0.

Ahead of the tie, there has been much speculation around the future of Emmanuel Latte Lath on Teesside.

It was claimed earlier on Friday that Premier League outfit Ipswich Town wanted to sign Latte Lath to bolster their striker ranks after missing out on Chelsea forward Armando Broja.

Boro News then learned that Ipswich failed in a bid to sign Latte Lath from Middlesbrough.

The Teessiders were said to want over £25m for the striker – funds the Tractor Boys simply did not have.

Will Emmanuel Latte Lath play for Middlesbrough vs Cardiff City

Despite Kieran McKenna’s side not being able to afford a deal for the Ivorian, his future in the North East was up in the air.

The Boro first-team squad made the trip to Wales earlier today ahead of Saturday’s match but Latte Lath did not travel.

This sparked speculation that the 25-year-old could still leave Middlesbrough on deadline day, even if it was not for Ipsiwch.

However, journalist Dominic Shaw has now provided a fresh update on the situation via X/Twitter, confirming Latte Lath is now on his way to Cardiff and is available to play tomorrow.

He wrote: “Emmanuel Latte Lath is on his way to Wales to join up with Boro squad and is available to play tomorrow.

“Said to be ‘100% committed’ after talks with Boro officials and Michael Carrick this afternoon. No hard feelings on either side – desire to move forward”

Has Emmanuel Latte Lath lost the Middlesbrough fans

While Carrick appears to have come to terms with Latte Lath trying to force a move, the Boro faithful may never forgive the striker.

Since the arrival of Kieran Scott, Middlesbrough have been much better at signing players who actually want to play for the club and commit their long-term future to it.

But after links away earlier this summer and today’s drama, it will be interesting to see how the away supporters react when and if Latte Lath features against Cardiff.

Tommy Conway is a very capable Championship striker so there is always a chance Carrick opts to start him up front and leave the former Atalanta BC man out to give him time to clear his head.
