Middlesbrough could receive a surprising financial boost as they also await a fresh fee for Morgan Rogers.
Boro have made a couple of big sales over the last few years that they could still stand to benefit further from on the financial front.
After scoring 29 goals in the 2022/23 season, Middlesbrough sold star striker Chuba Akpom to Ajax in the summer of 2023.
More recently, after just six months at the club, Morgan Rogers left the Riverside Stadium to link up with Premier League outfit, Aston Villa.
Last month, Steve Gibson was told Rogers is now worth £40m and while Middlesbrough did not recoup that high a sum from his sale, they still netted a tidy fee.
Former Middlesbrough star Rogers excelled on his Champions League debut for Aston Villa in September.
The Reds netted an initial £11m for Rogers, which was a massive profit for the club after they gave around a tenth of that to Manchester City.
But a number of performance-related add-ons were also included in the deal and Middlesbrough will earn around £5m from Rogers’ add-ons once they are all met.

Tottenham can hand Middlesbrough financial boost
Aside from more potential profit from the Rogers add-ons, Middlesbrough could be set to benefit from another of their previous sales in the future.
Back in July 2022, the North East outfit sold right-back Djed Spence to Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.
As per the Northern Echo, while the initial transfer fee is not known, there were performance-related add-ons included in that deal.
Spence failed to stake a regular starting berth in north London when he first joined, being loaned out on three separate occasions.
This meant it was unlikely Middlesbrough would be able to receive any of the performance-related add-ons from the sale of the defender.
However, Spence has already made four appearances for Tottenham in all competitions and has now signed a contract extension that will keep him in north London until 2028.
This gives Boro a much better chance of receiving some extra funds from Spurs for the Spence transfer in the future.

Djed Spence time at Middlesbrough
Spence joined Middlesbrough on a free transfer from Premier League outfit Fulham in 2018.
The now 24-year-old initially linked up with Boro’s U21 team but quickly cemented himself as a first-team regular.
Spence made 70 appearances across all competitions for their senior side, scoring twice while largely operating at right-back.
He won the Championship Player of the Month award in December 2020 while playing under Jonathan Woodgate but has struggled to replicate that form since moving to Spurs.
But should Postecoglou continue handing him minutes in 2024/25, it could benefit Middlesbrough financially going forward.
