Middlesbrough have seen a huge improvement in their recruitment since Kieran Scott joined the club.

Boro fans will be well aware of just how bad their recruitment has been over the years.

A lot of players have flopped at Middlesbrough, with it previously obvious there was no clear long-term plan in place when it came to signings.

However, Kieran Scott then arrived as Head of Football in 2022 and, working alongside long-time manager Michael Carrick, has put a proper plan in place.

Boro are finally starting to sign players who fit the club’s vision and, most importantly, have the ability required to play Carrick’s style.

The improved transfer strategy was on full display during the 2024 summer window, with several new faces already impressing.

Ben Doak continues to steal headlines for Middlesbrough, with the winger arguably the signing of the season so far.

Aidan Morris transfer value revealed

As well as the likes of Doak and Tommy Conway, midfielder Aidan Morris has been a real revelation since his move to the Riverside Stadium.

Boro paid MLS outfit Columbus Crew £3.18m for the American and, so far, he has proven to be worth every penny.

Morris was named Middlesbrough’s signing of the summer earlier in the season and it is easy to see why.

And now, the 23-year-old’s current transfer value has been shared by CIES Football Observatory, who produce reports based on statistics involving players.

CIES have released a list of the most valuable players at every club across more than 65 leagues worldwide and have named Morris as Boro’s best asset, with an estimated value of £17.5m.

Should Middlesbrough sell him for that fee in the coming windows, they would net more than five times what they paid for Morris in July.

Middlesbrough may already have Aidian Morris transfer fear

Scott deserves huge credit for snapping up Morris, who has already proven himself as a top-class Championship player.

But given his form in 2024/25, Boro may well already begin to fear losing him to a Premier League team in the near future.

A number of Middlesbrough stars have attracted interest over the last few months, including Rav van den Berg, Emmanuel Latte Lath and Hayden Hackney.

And while Morris is yet to be linked with a top-flight team, it is surely only a matter of time before one comes knocking given just how well he has settled into life in England.
