Middlesbrough head of recruitment Kieran Scott has revealed that he is planning to meet a club legend who could take the side’s transfer business to the next level.
Boro made eight signings in the summer 2024 transfer window, with all of them performing at various levels during their first few months on Teesside.
Despite there being another three months to go before the winter window opens in January 2025, Michael Carrick and Co are planning already as they look to try and strengthen the squad for a promotion push.

Middlesbrough to meet with Juninho to discuss exciting recruitment plan
Scott revealed that club legend Juninho has invited Boro officials out to his native Brazil to discuss the prospect of signing players from his homeland.
Juninho is currently the president of Brazilian second-tier side Ituamo FC and has previously held a senior role in the Brazilian FA.
The 2004 League Cup winner has had an influence on previous signings at the Riverside Stadium and was involved in the deal to bring Rodrigo Muniz in on loan from Fulham in 2021.

And during his latest conversation with BBC Tees Sport, Scott revealed that they had held discussions with ‘The Little Fella’.
He said: To be fair, Juninho has been over here recently, and he sat down in my office with me and Chris [Jones] and invited us out there to come and meet people over there.
“He’s involved in a club over there at a high level now – he’s going to be taking over, I believe. So he’s invited us to come out for that exact reason – to try and form a link and work with him.”
Middlesbrough face transfer setback in fresh Brazil link
The possibility of unearthing the next Juninho is an exciting prospect for any Boro fan, but rules surrounding work permits could prove to be a problem.
Under the new guidelines post-Brexit, players must accumulate a certain number of points based on factors such as league and international appearances.
And while the EFL recently relaxed guidelines, the Teessiders would only be allowed to sign up to four players who do not meet the Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) Criteria.
