We’re now three months into the season and Middlesbrough’s new signings have had plenty of time to bed into the club following their transfer moves in the summer window.
No fewer than eight players made the move to the Riverside Stadium in the summer as Michael Carrick’s side aim to try and mount a promotion charge.
It’s been an up-and-down start to the Championship campaign, with Boro ninth in the table after nine games.
Some players have been an instant hit for the Teessiders, while others have struggled in the opening few months.
With that, we’ve assessed how every player Middlesbrough signed in the summer 2024 window has performed so far.
Aidan Morris – B

USMNT international Aidan Morris has been impressive since making the move across the pond.
Morris has been a regular in Carrick’s first-team this season and although he is yet to score or assist, has been important to the way that Boro player.
Many Middlesbrough fans have already labelled the American as the best player of the 2024/25 campaign so far and the club’s signing of the summer.
It’s early days but it seems like the Teessiders have a real player on their hands.
George Edmundson – B

George Edmundson has surprised fans with his instant impact since joining on loan from Ipswich Town.
Joining as extra cover, Edmundson has been thrust into the starting XI, and the man nicknamed ‘The Fridge’, has been as solid as ever.
He scored his first goal in the defeat against Watford and even when Dael Fry and Matt Clarke return from injury, they may find it harder to get back into the squad.
Like Morris, Edmundson has also been named as one of the signings of the summer, with supporters hoping his move will be made permanent in the future.
Ben Doak – B

There was plenty of hype around Ben Doak’s arrival on deadline day, and rightly so.
A brave, direct winger, Doak picked Middlesbrough as the best place to learn the trade of senior football.
Doak has been bright in his first few appearances and looked a cut above the rest of the wingers at the Riverside.
He may only be here for a season but the Scotland international is getting better with each game that goes by and could play an important role in Boro’s quest for promotion.

Luke Ayling – B minus

After turning his loan move into a permanent stay, Luke Ayling has become a key part of Carrick’s starting XI.
Everyone knew what they were getting when it came to Ayling and he has certainly lived up to expectations.
According to Opta, Ayling is Boro’s second-highest-rated player of the 2024/25 season, coming second behind Hayden Hackney in their points ranking system.
His performances have displayed his sign of leadership and what he can bring to the side throughout the season.
Tommy Conway – C

There was lots of hype around Tommy Conway’s move up north after he joined from Championship rivals Bristol City.
Conway was the subject of interest from several clubs but Boro were able to complete a deal reportedly worth £5m.
The Scotland international has made a solid start to life at the club, scoring two goals in his first five appearances.
He has missed the last three games before the international break but should be fit to return for the home game against his old side on 19 October.
Delano Burgzorg – C

Delano Burgzorg was by no means a marquee arrival in the summer, but he has still featured.
He scored his only goal for Boro so far in the EFL Cup win against Leeds United in August but has only come on as a sub in the past four games.
Burgzorg still offers something in games, but his hot-and-cold performances in games so far mean that the jury is still somewhat out on him.
Micah Hamilton – C

Anyone who arrives from Manchester City carries a weight of expectation and Micah Hamilton is no different.
Hamilton has largely been restricted to appearances from off the bench but started in the 2-1 defeat away at Watford.
At 20, the midfielder still has a long way to go in his career and while he hasn’t been disappointing, he hasn’t set the world alight in his first few months.
Neto Borges – D

The most disappointing of the lot to say the least.
After looking solid in his debut against Cardiff City, Neto Borges hasn’t lived up to expectations so far.
Borges seems to have struggled with the demands of English football since joining from French second-tier side Clermont Foot.
The Brazilian full-back struggled in the derby day defeat against Sunderland and while it’s still early days, will drastically need to improve if he wants to be considered a success.
