Middlesbrough can now complete the signing of a Premier League player, further adding to their excellent summer business.
Steve Gibson has backed Michael Carrick heavily in the transfer market so far this summer.
Middlesbrough have made five first-team additions in what has been one of their best windows in several years.
Luke Ayling, Delano Burgzorg and Aidan Morris completed moves ahead of pre-season, while Harley Hunt has joined the club’s academy.
This month, meanwhile, Middlesbrough signed Micah Hamilton from Manchester City for a fee of around £3.5m including add-ons.
Hamilton featured in the League Cup win over Leeds United and also came off the bench versus Derby County this past Saturday.
Tommy Conway made his Middlesbrough debut in that game after securing a £4.5m transfer from Bristol City.

Middlesbrough can complete Premier League transfer thanks to Leicester City
With just over one week of the transfer window to go, Boro look set to continue adding to their squad this summer.
Middlesbrough want to sign a left-back to replace Alex Bangura, who is once again out of action with a long-term injury.
However, a new name is now being linked with a move to the Riverside this week.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Leicester City are aiming to complete a move for Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew.
Once that deal is wrapped up, the Foxes will allow young striker Tom Cannon to leave this month.
Middlesbrough are among the names who ‘fancy’ a move for the forward along with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United.

Do Middlesbrough need to sign Tom Cannon
Cannon joined Leicester from Everton in 2023 for a fee of around £6.5m.
However, the 21-year-old has struggled to have much of an impact since moving to the King Power Stadium.
He has made just 16 appearances for Leicester in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
The Irishman still has the potential to become a top player if given more game time but he is unlikely to get that at Middlesbrough.
Carrick only plays one striker and Emmanuel Latte Lath is his main number nine for the current campaign.
Behind the Ivorian, Boro have just spent big on Conway and also have Josh Coburn as a third-choice option.
Even if Coburn leaves, it is hard to see Cannon earning too many minutes on Teesside in 2024/25.
