Tommy Conway made his first appearance for Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
Boro have played two Championship fixtures so far this season and have now signed a new player 24 hours ahead of each game.
Micah Hamilton joined Middlesbrough the day prior to their season opener against Swansea City, which they won 1-0.
Hamilton did not feature in that match but came off the bench as Middlesbrough beat Leeds United 3-0 in the League Cup on Wednesday.
Then, ahead of Saturday’s match, Boro confirmed the signing of Tommy Conway from Bristol City for a fee of around £4.5m.
Like with Hamilton, the 22-year-old striker was not expected to play any part against Paul Warne’s men at Pride Park, given he only signed for the club 24 hours before the match.
In the end, however, Michael Carrick was forced to call on Conway’s services late in the tie.

Michael Carrick gives Tommy Conway verdict
Middlesbrough lost 1-0 to Derby County on August 17th after Kayden Jackson took advantage of an Isaiah Jones error to score the only goal of the match in the 14th minute.
The Teessiders played the majority of the 90 minutes on the front foot but were unable to find a breakthrough.
Hamilton came off the bench to try and add some creative spark to Boro’s attack but with no goal looking likely, Carrick turned to Conway in the 78th minute.
Due to the copious amount of injuries Derby had, Conway ended up playing around 18 minutes. However, he failed to have much of an impact on the game, touching the ball nine times and having zero shots.
Speaking to BBC Radio Tees after the game though, Carrick stressed the importance of giving both Conyway and Hamilton time to settle in.
He said: “We couldn’t get it right today but certainly to have Tommy here and around it, he hasn’t done an awful lot of training so we wanted to get him involved and up and running quickly and Micah as well, they’ll be better for it.
“It’s over time you know, it’s not a flick-a-switch job and everything’s great and everyone settles in.
“But they are two really good lads, they’re happy to be here and we are happy to have them so we’ll get to work and will keep building as the season goes.”

Why Middlesbrough fans should not expect too much from Conway
One of the main reasons for Boro’s slow start last season was their summer transfer business.
Middlesbrough signed too many players late in the window, and this greatly impacted their early-season form.
This summer, a number of their new additions were brought to the Riverside before pre-season had started.
Unsurprisingly, these players, including Delano Burgzorg, looked much sharper in the Derby defeat.
But with Conway having had less than 24 hours at the club before his debut on Saturday, it will be some time before he is up to speed in the North East.
The striker is unlikely to start against Portsmouth next weekend but could be given a runout when Boro face Stoke City in the second round of the League Cup later this month.
