A fresh transfer update suggests that Middlesbrough are closing in on signing number five of the summer window.
In previous transfer windows, Middlesbrough have lacked efficiency and a clear plan, which has reflected their struggles in the Championship.
However, with Kieran Scott working with Michael Carrick, the Teessiders are now running like a well-oiled machine when it comes to recruitment.
Boro kicked off the 2024 summer window by signing Luke Ayling on a free from Leeds United after he assisted eight in 19 while on loan at the Riverside last term.
Delano Burgzorg arrived in the North East shortly after, joining on a permanent basis from German outfit, Mainz 05.
Carrick then strengthened his midfield ranks with the addition of Aidan Morris from Columbus Crew.
The club’s latest signing was confirmed on July 8th, with 16-year-old Harley Hunt joining from Swindon Town.
The teenager was reportedly wanted by several Premier League sides, including Aston Villa and Southampton.

Ryan Giles expected to sign for Middlesbrough
Despite already signing four new players this summer, Middlesbrough’s summer transfer business does not look to be over just yet.
Ryan Giles signed for Hull City on a permanent basis last month, seemingly ending Boro’s chances of a deal.
However, the North East outfit were given a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of the left-back.
Reports last week, meanwhile, claimed Middlesbrough were preparing to make a bid for Giles.
Now, a fresh update from Hull Live has emerged and it is good news for the Teessiders.
The Yorkshire-based outlet report that Giles is expected to make a permanent move to Middlesbrough in the near future.
No transfer fee is mentioned in the report, but the return of Giles to the Riverside will no doubt please the Boro faithful.

Middlesbrough can unlock Ryan Giles’ full potential
Giles joined Luton Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2023.
The 24-year-old made 11 Premier League appearances for the Hatters before being loaned to Hull in the second half of 2023/24.
Giles struggled to make too much of an impact at the MKM Stadium, providing just one assist in 17 Championship games.
However, now the defender is on his way back to Teesside, Carrick should be able to unlock his full potential.
Giles spent 2022/23 on loan at the Riverside and had arguably the best season of his career so far.
The Englishman earned high praise from the Boro boss, with the ex-Manchester United man labeling him ‘terrific’, as per the Northern Echo.
Giles fit into Carrick’s system well and was able to provide an impressive 11 assists from left-back.
Now, with Carrick still wanting his Middlesbrough full-backs to push high up the pitch and act as wingers when Boro have the ball, Giles should be able to rediscover his best form in 2024/25.
