“Micah’s probably gone under the radar because he’s been injured for a long period,” Barry-Murphy told MEN in September. “We feel he’s coming back into good form and feel he’s got a lot more movement in him.

“He can get a lot fitter and if you see him at his best he’s pretty unique and has distinct parts of his game which are really exciting. I say to him he’s a street footballer, you see Oscar Bobb who’s very exciting to watch.

“Micah is the same, someone who can eliminate players one by one, no matter how the game evolves, for a player to be able to beat a player one-v-one is one of the most exciting things.”

Micah Hamilton’s ballboy conversation with Pep Guardiola

Before scoring in the Champions League for his boyhood club Micah Hamilton was most well-known for an infamous touchline chat with Pep Guardiola while he was a ball boy.

Back in 2017, the Manchester City boss was caught by cameras having a conversation with a ball boy asking him to get the ball back on as quickly as possible, that boy turned out to be none other than Micah Hamilton.

Following Hamilton’s Manchester City debut, Guardiola was reminded of the clip, telling reporters:

“I didn’t know! Six years ago? He grew up, huh? Wow, what a goal! What a game. I’m so happy for him. He’s training quite often with us, we saw his skills up front one against one and he made a fantastic goal and penalty, and when he could not be one against one he gave extra passes. Defensively he was aggressive. Congratulations to the academy over the last [few] years.”
