Middlesbrough went head-to-head with Oxford United in a Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.
The Teessiders found some much-needed form before club football took a break earlier this month.
Middlesbrough smashed both Queens Park Rangers and Luton Town, scoring nine goals in just two games.
Said victories put Michael Carrick’s men in a great position heading into the latest round of Championship fixtures.
Boro were seventh in the league table and knew a win on Saturday could have potentially propelled them into the top six if results elsewhere went their way.
Middlesbrough were predicted to beat Oxford United but injuries to Aidan Morris and Hayden Hackney put the North East outfit at a major disadvantage ahead of kick-off down south.

Middlesbrough fans all in agreement about Sol Brynn vs Oxford United
There were a couple of noticeable changes to the starting line-up for Boro on Saturday, one of which was Soly Brynn replacing an ill Seny Dieng between the sticks.
It was Brynn’s first league start for Middlesbrough and he more than took the opportunity, making some crucial saves and having a hand in several attacks, including starting one that led to Boro’s second on the day.
Now, Middlesbrough fans have taken to social media to shower the young shot-stopper in praise.
One fan wrote: “Sol Brynn’s pass to start the attack,” followed by three clapping emojis.
A second Boro supporter added: “Sol Brynn you have my attention, my friend.”
A third Middlesbrough fan stated: “Fantastic from Sol Brynn,” with another adding: ” [Seny] Dieng could never.”
“Safe hands Sol and great comeback after dominating and going behind against the run of play,” a fifth fan said.
Another Middlesbrough fan added: “Great goalkeeping from Brynn!” With a seventh writing: “Quality Sol, Dieng never doing that.”

Michael Carrick now has major Middlesbrough headache after Oxford United
After his display on Saturday, it is clear Brynn has given Carrick a major selection headache moving forward.
Dieng came under fire when Middlesbrough faced Sheffield United last month and was similarly poor earlier in the season versus Portsmouth.
To this point though, he has kept his place as the Teessdiers’ starting goalkeeper.
But after what Brynn showed in the Oxford clash, he may well have done enough to keep his place over Dieng on Wednesday.
