Middlesbrough are looking to add another striker to their ranks this summer and could explore the loan market to do so.
Middlesbrough have often struggled to sign quality centre-forwards but have been blessed with a couple of great options in the last two years.
Chuba Akpom scored 29 goals in the 2022/23 season as Michael Carrick’s side finished fourth in the Championship.
Akpom left the Riverside for Ajax that summer but his replacement, Emmanuel Latte Lath, has done an excellent job so far – scoring 11 in his last 12 games.
Despite this, Boro News understands Middlesbrough want to sign a striker in the 2024 summer transfer window and could explore the loan market to do so.
With this in mind, Boro News have taken a look at three strikers Middlesbrough could loan ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season.

Will Lankshear
Middlesbrough have already scouted Will Lankshear this year and he is now set to be available for loan this summer.
The 19-year-old signed a new five-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur recently and the Lilywhites are willing to let him leave the club on loan.
Sunderland have enquired about signing the teenager in the current window but Boro should beat the Black Cats to him.
Lankshear impressed for Spurs’ U21 team in 2023/24, scoring 25 and assisting three in 26 outings.

Ethan Wheatley
Ethan Wheatley broke into the Manchester United first-team at the end of last season, making three appearances for a total of 13 minutes.
However, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund competing for the number nine spot in 2024/25, there will be limited senior chances available for the 18-year-old.
As a result, United may wish to loan him out and Carrick could use his United connections to get a deal done.
Wheatley scored 14 goals in all competitions for United’s youth teams last campaign and was named the club’s Young Player of the Year for 2023/24.

Will Dickson
Moving over to the other side of Manchester, Will Dickson is one of several rising stars in Manchester City’s academy.
Dickson scored 15 times for the Sky Blues at U18 level and has already won the Premier League 2 with City twice.
The 19-year-old is fast, skillful, and has an eye for goal. And though he is not currently being linked with a move away, Man City may decide this summer is a good time for him to go out and earn first-team experience.
