Middlesbrough are looking to add another striker to their squad this summer and an update on their pursuit has been provided.
Steve Gibson has backed manager Michael Carrick well in the 2024 summer transfer window so far.
The Middlesbrough boss has been able to sign three new first-team players ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season.
Luke Ayling kicked off the Teessiders’ summer business, joining on a free transfer from Leeds United.
Delano Burgzorg then arrived from German outfit Mainz 05 before Aidan Morris made a switch to the Riverside Stadium from the MLS.
Despite getting a good chunk of their business done early this summer, further incomings are still expected at Boro before deadline day on August 30th.
Boro News understands Middlesbrough are looking at the foreign market to strengthen on the left wing.
After the arrival of Morris, it was also reported that a new striker remains a priority for the club.

Michael Carrick not sold on Josh Coburn as Middlesbrough striker plans revealed
At present, Emmanuel Latte Lath, who scored 16 in 30 Championship games last term, is set to be Carrick’s main number nine in 2024/25.
Josh Coburn is the current backup option for the Ivorian but Middlesbrough are looking to further strengthen their attacking ranks this summer.
Boro News spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey and understands that Middlesbrough are still working on a few strikers this summer and the loan market could be explored to get a new centre-forward through the door.
Bailey also confirmed that there are question marks over Coburn as Carrick is not fully sold on the 21-year-old.
However, Middlesbrough fans may have to wait sometime before a new number nine is signed.
This is because Middlesbrough are waiting to see who is available as Premier League clubs make decisions on which youngsters can go out on loan and which squad players are available.

Should Carrick give Coburn another chance
With Middlesbrough eyeing promotion in 2024/25, it is easy to see why Carrick wants another striker this summer.
However, Coburn could still be a key player for the North East outfit if given a chance next season.
The 21-year-old scored five and assisted one in 21 Championship outings last season, which is by no means a great record.
However, Coburn was not a regular starter and his campaign was hampered by injury issues.
The Englishman still has plenty of potential and could offer more next term if he stays fit and is afforded more regular playing time.
