Middlesbrough had a fantastic 2024 summer transfer window, in no small part due to Kieran Scott.
Kieran Scott arrived at Middlesbrough as the club’s Head of Football from Norwich City in 2021.
The Boro chief has since completely transformed and, most importantly, improved the North East outfit’s recruitment massively.
This was very evident during the 2024 summer transfer window. Boro had a hectic 2023 window, meaning they only needed to add quality depth this time around, rather than completely rebuilding the squad for Michael Carrick.
And that is exactly what Scott helped the Teessiders do. Luke Ayling, Aidan Morris and Delano Burgzorg arrived early in the window and have been key players this season.
The likes of Micah Hamilton, Ben Doak and George Edmundson were late arrivals but are still expected to be very important in the 2024/25 season.
The most expensive addition of the summer arrived in August when Middlesbrough paid £4.5m for Tommy Conway.

Middlesbrough beat Premier League club to Tommy Conway transfer
One of Boro’s main priorities during the most recent transfer window was the addition of a new striker.
Very few names were linked, with the club clearly keen to land the now ex-Bristol City man.
The likes of Burnley and Hull City wanted to sign Conway ahead of Boro.
But now, speaking on the You Are My Boro podcast, Scott has revealed that a Premier League club was showing interest in the 22-year-old as well but Middlesbrough were able to convince the striker that the Riverside Stadium was the right place for him.
He said: “There was a lot of competition for Tommy you know Bristol City are very renowned for selling very well. They’ve sold a lot of players for a of money over recent years so they’re not an easy club to negotiate with.
“Tommy only had one year left [on his contract], which was probably the only real reason we had any chance of getting a deal done.
“There was big clubs that came in from our division. There was even a little sneak of someone in a division higher to sort of bring him in and blood him into that sort of system.
“There was a lot of competition and we worked really hard and we convinced Tommy that we would be the right place for him.
“He’s got the personality to play for a club like this for sure so I’m really pleased with Tommy and hopefully he has a good career.”

How is Tommy Conway faring at Middlesbrough
Conway signed ahead of Boro’s clash with Derby County and came off the bench late in the tie but was unable to help the club rescue a point.
He then made a substitute appearance in the 2-2 draw with Portsmouth the following week, scoring a penalty late on.
The Scotland international’s first and currently only start for the club came on August 31st in a 2-0 win over Cardiff City.
Conway struggled for Middlesbrough vs Cardiff as Carrick opted to play him out of position on the left wing but the Boros boss still called him ‘great’ after the match, as per Teesside Live.
The striker is yet to show his true quality in a Boro shirt but as he has not played up front yet, that is to be expected.
However, Conway may struggle to get too many minutes as a number nine this term due to Emmanuel Latte Lath still being Carrick’s first choice in that area.
