Middlesbrough have made a seven-figure transfer offer for a rising star who impressed at the U19 Euros this summer.

Middlesbrough began the transfer window in hectic fashion, getting three first-team players through the door before their pre-season began.

Luke Ayling, Delano Burgzorg, and Aidan Morris all joined the club on permanent deals but things have gone quiet since the latter’s move was confirmed.

Middlesbrough’s striker plans for the remainder of 2024 could see them use the loan market to bolster their attacking ranks.

Boro News reported last week that Middlesbrough were looking at the foreign market to strengthen on the left wing this summer.

It has since emerged that Middlesbrough are set to rival Sunderland for a European winger.

Now, it appears another area is being targeted by those in a position of power at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough submit seven-figure transfer offer

According to Turkish outlet Yeniasir, Middlesbrough have offered €1.75m for 18-year-old midfielder, Yusuf Sertkaya.

The teenager only joined Bodrum FK at the beginning of June 2024 but he could be on the move again this summer.

Sertkaya has spent the last several weeks representing Turkey at the U19 European Championships.

Turkey made it to the last-16 before they were knocked out by Norway on July 25th.

Sertkaya is still currently away with his country but his future is expected to be decided next week.

How Middlesbrough should use Sertkaya

Sertkaya has 28 senior appearances to his name, all of which came with his previous club, Bursaspor.

Given his limited experience, it is hard to see the Teessiders handing him a first-team role in 2024/25.

Carrick currently has Jonny Howson, Hayden Hackney, Morris, Dan Barlaser, and Law McCabe to pick up in the centre of the pitch.

And with McCabe expected to be handed a more prominent role next term after penning a fresh deal last month, Sertkaya would probably be signed to play for the club’s U21 team or maybe even loaned straight back out.
