Middlesbrough brought in nine players this summer while seven left the Riverside Stadium.
Middlesbrough completed a move for Luke Ayling on a free transfer shortly after the 2023/24 season drew to a close.
Ayling’s arrival was followed by Aidan Morris joining from Columbus Crew and Delano Burgzorg arriving from Mainz 05.
After that duo, Harly Hunt was signed to the U21 team but injury issues have seen him promoted to the first-team in recent times.
Boro’s attacking ranks have been heavily strengthened as well. Tommy Conway has arrived from Bristol City, while Micah Hamilton and Ben Doak were late additions.
Finally, Neto Borges and George Edmundson will add some much-needed depth to Middlesbrough’s backline.
As for the outgoings at the Riverside, Paddy McNair, Liam Roberts and Jamie Jones left on free transfers.
Josh Coburn, Sammy Silvera, Zach Hemming and Sonny Finch left on loan, while Hayden Coulson was sold to Blackpool.
Now, after a very hectic window, Boro News have taken a look at the three biggest winners and losers from the Teessiders’ summer business.

Michael Carrick, Steve Gibson and the Middlesbrough fans have won the window
While there is a case to be made that some players have benefited from certain exits and arrivals, including Sol Brynn becoming the number two after Hemming was loaned, they are not the main winners from Boro’s transfer window.
Steve Gibson made it clear back in June that he did not want to sell any of his team’s key players over the summer.
And despite late interest from Ipswich Town in Emmanuel Latte Lath, Gibson got his wish.
Another main winner from the summer is, of course, Michael Carrick. After missing out on the playoffs by four points last season, the Boro boss will have wanted a big summer transfer window and that is exactly what he got.
Middlesbrough strengthened in every outfield position over the last few months and did not let any of their top stars go, giving Carrick an almost perfect window.
The final winner is the Boro fans. The Teessiders have made a number of very exciting signings, with the likes of Doak and Hamilton expected to prove very entreating to watch once they get up to speed.

Tom Glover, Marcus Forss and Riley Mcgree are the big losers from Middlesbrough’s transfer window
As already mentioned, Hemming left the club on loan over the summer, with it expected that Tom Glover would keep his place as Boro’s number two.
However, Brynn started in Middlesbrough’s first two League Cup games of the campaign, suggesting Glover is now the third-choice option.
The Australian international is now at risk of losing his place for his country after dropping down the pecking order on Teesside and not being able to agree a move.
Elsewhere, with Isaiah Jones, Hamilton and Doak now competing for a place on the right wing, Marcus Forss may struggle to get back into the eleven when he returns from injury.
The influx of attacking talent, most notably Burgzorg, also looks set to see Riley McGree given a reduced role going forward.
