Manager Michael Carrick has shared his thoughts on Middlesbrough’s summer signings so far and dropped a transfer hint.
Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson has backed manager Michael Carrick heavily in the 2024 summer window so far.
Four players have signed for Boro in the current transfer window and further reinforcements are expected.
Boro News reported last week that Middlesbrough were looking at the foreign market to strengthen on the left wing this summer.
Reports from Finland have since emerged that claim Middlesbrough will rival Sunderland for 21-year-old left-winger, Topi Keskinen.
Middlesbrough’s striker plans for the remainder of 2024 could see them dip into the loan market to add competition for Emmanuel Latte Lath and Josh Coburn.

Michael Carrick on Delano Burgzorg, Luke Ayling, and Aidan Morris
At present, Middlesbrough will go into the 2024/25 Championship season with Delano Burgzorg, Luke Ayling, and Aidan Morris as their three new first-team additions.
Ayling spent the second half of 2023/24 on loan at the Riverside but Burgzorg and Morris are still adjusting to life at their new club.
Burgzorg scored his first-ever Middlesbrough goal versus Bolton Wanderers last weekend, while a pundit has praised Morris for his outings against Gateshead in midweek.
Now, as per Teesside Live, Carrick has shared his thoughts on Boro’s new signings and dropped a transfer hint.
He said: “I think getting the boys in early, we’re really happy. You’re always on the lookout to see how you can keep improving things but there’s a good feeling at the moment.
“When the season starts it’s a whole different animal. We need to be ready for that. But at this moment now, we’re in a decent place.
“It’s a good group, a really good group. They look after each other and the new boys have settled in really well and quickly, so that’s another positive.”

How many more signings do Middlesbrough need to make
With Carrick hinting the club are ‘always on the lookout’ to see if their squad can be strengthened further, a couple more names arriving through the door this summer would not be surprising.
As Burgzorg is Boro’s only natural left-wing option at present, another body on that flank could be needed.
Ayling is also Middlesbrough’s only fit right-back, so another full-back being signed would make sense.
Elsewhere in the backline, Carrick’s decision to start Jonny Howson at centre-back versus Gateshead suggests Middlesbrough should strengthen in that area.
