Middlesbrough have no desire to let one player leave the club in the final few days of the transfer window.
It has been a summer of change at the Riverside Stadium, with plenty of incomings and outgoings.
After Neto Borges joined Middlesbrough on Tuesday, Michael Carrick has now made seven signings in the last couple of months.
With all the new faces through the door, outgoings were and are still expected in the North East.
So far, Paddy McNair, Liam Roberts, Jamie Jones, Zach Hemming, Sammy Silvera and Hayden Coulson have left Boro on permanent or temporary deals.
Hemming was criticised by Leyton Orient’s manager after his most recent display for the League One club, suggesting Carrick made the right call to let him go.
However, the Boro boss still has a couple more tough calls to make regarding potential exits ahead of the transfer window slamming shut on August 30th.

Middlesbrough change transfer stance on ‘terrific’ player
Millwall are interested in Josh Coburn, who has fallen down the centre-forward pecking order at Boro after the arrival of Tommy Conway from Bristol City.
Elsewhere, despite being the club’s best player in their humiliating 5-0 defeat to Stoke City on Tuesday, Middlesbrough are considering loaning out Alex Gilbert.
One player who will not be leaving the Riverside this month, however, is Anfernee Dijksteel.
Dijksteel was made available for sale earlier this summer but the right-back is now set to stay on Teesside.
Boro News have spoken to transfer expert Graeme Bailey regarding the player and he confirmed that though Middlesbrough told Dijksteel he could leave at the beginning of the window, they are no longer in a position for that to happen.
He said: “Dijksteel is a player that was told earlier in the summer that he could move – however, they are not in a position to let him leave.”

Have Middlesbrough made right call on Anfernee Dijksteel
Since Carrick’s arrival at the club, the 27-year-old has fallen down the right-back pecking order.
Tommy Smith was Boro’s primary right-sided defender in 2022/23 when they reached the play-off semi-finals.
Then, after Luke Ayling joined on loan from Leeds United, Dijksteel was again playing second fiddle.
The defender remains something of a fringe star in the current campaign but with Smith still out, the Suriname international has proven himself to be a very useful rotation option.
Carrick labelled Dijksteel ‘terrific’ after his performance versus Leeds, in which he scored his first-ever goal for the club.
And with Middlesbrough currently having just one fit senior centre-back, the former Charlton Athletic star is expected to continue being an important figure at the Riverside for the time being.
