Josh Coburn has left Middlesbrough for Championship rivals Millwall on Friday.
As was to be expected, the 21-year-old’s exit from the Riverside Stadium was confirmed on Friday.
Millwall have been linked with Josh Coburn for much of the 2024 summer transfer window after searching for centre-forward reinforcements.
Preston North End showed late interest in Coburn but the forward has now completed a loan move to the Den for the 2024/25 season.
The Englishman’s exit comes on the back of him falling far down the pecking order under Michael Carrick.
Coburn was backup to Emmanuel Latte Lath in the previous campaign, scoring five in 21 matches during what was an injury-hit campaign for the player.
However, Middlesbrough have since signed Tommy Conway from Bristol City to rival Latte Lath, while fellow summer addition Delano Burgzorg and academy product Sonny Finch can provide cover up front for the Teessiders.

Luke Ayling, Tommy Conway and more Middlesbrough players react to Josh Coburn message
As a result, with the former Sunderland starlet still fairly young, a temporary move to earn more regular playing time this term seems to make sense for all parties.
Following his exit, the striker took to Instagram to pen a message to his new club.
He wrote: “Excited to join millwallfc for the season! Looking forward to seeing you all at the Den”
Several Middlesbrough players have since taken to the comment section of the post to react.
Conway, who has taken Coburn’s place in the team, wrote ‘All the best mate’, Luke Ayling said ‘All the best big fella’, right-back Tommy Smith added ‘Best of luck erl’, while Finch simply posted three clapping hands emojis.

Will Middlesbrough replace Josh Coburn on Deadline Day
The exit of Coburn leaves Carrick with two senior recognised strikers but as mentioned above, Burgzorg and Finch are viable backups.
However, Middlesbrough may regret their decision to loan out Coburn after a recent development regarding one of their other strikers.
This comes after claims that Ipswich Town want to sign Latte Lath today.
Boro News understands Ipswich cannot afford a deal for Latte Lath, but the player’s head has seemingly already been turned by Premier League interest as he has not travelled with the rest of the squad for their meeting with Cardiff City on Saturday.
Should the 25-year-old leave or at the very least, down tools for Middlesbrough if he does not get a move, it may leave Carrick ruing his decision to part ways with Coburn until the end of the season.
